The PERSIAN Employee Cohort

The PERSIAN Employee Cohort started in 2016 in an attempt to identify occupational risk factors of non-communicable diseases, with heavy emphasis on psychosocial issues and risk factors. This cohort is currently actively enrolling participants, including all personnel at the participating universities of medical sciences.

The General Objective of the PERSIAN Employee Cohort are as followed:

  1. To identify risk factors, especially occupational risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases

Data Collection:

General, medical and nutrition Questionnaires completed in the PERSIAN Main (Adult) Cohort are also completed in the PERSIAN Employee Cohort. In addition to those, a heavily emphasized psychological risk factor questionnaire, focusing on many occupationally related psychosocial issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, quality of life and overall life satisfaction are also completed and the following examinations are performed in a subsample:

 

  • Spirometry
  • Electrocardiograms (EKG)
  • Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA)
  • Eye Examinations
  • Audiometry
  • Ultrasound Examination (Fatty Liver, Thyroid Scan)
  • Calorimetry
  • Central Blood Pressure (CBP)
  • Pulse Wave Velocity
